With a little help, even a tight budget can make room for good food eaten out where your whims are catered to and service is good. First off, look for your favorite restaurants at restaurant.com and buy ahead for HUGE discounts.
Some restaurants offer great deals for people who sign up for their Email clubs: meal discounts, coupons, birthday entrees. Here are a few of the restaurant e-club deals going on now for great San Diego restaurant discounts.
P.F. Chang’s offers what they call the P.F. Chang’s “Warrior Card.” You sign up for this at the restaurant, so it’s not a true e-club, but you will get email offers and a standing offer for all card holders publicized at their website. Right now, P.F. Chang’s offers 10% off your ticket when you present it at the restaurant.
Elephant Bar will give you frequent coupons and discounts, a birthday deal, and a variety of specials for joining the passport club. The deals they give aren’t stingy either. The most recent one was a free lunch entree. To get free food, join Elephant Bar passport club then find your San Diego Elephant Bar location. Find yours here.
At the other end of the dining spectrum, Weinerschnitzel will give you a free chili dog for joining their club. Get your free Weinerschnitzel chili dog
Arby’s offers a free Arby’s beef sandwich, and promises price-cutting deals for joining their email list.
If you sign up for Chili’s Email club, you’ll receive cool offers and print coupons. Get a free Chili’s appetizer plus more specials in email over time.

Go on. You know you want it!
iHop will give you a free meal upon e-club signup, plus one on your birthday, and on your one-year anniversary from sign up. Join iHop’s e-club, or as they call it, the Pancake revolution.
Chuck E. Cheese’s promises $30 in savings upon joining, plus their very best offer, birthday promotions, etc. It helps if you do birthday parties for the kids. Join Chuck E. Cheese’s club.
For Mexican food lovers: if you join Acapulco Mexican Restaurant’s e-mail club you’ll receive a free order of guacamole, a free meal on your birthday and other offered specials as they come up throughout the year.
These are three that San Diego on the Cheap has vetted and knows perform well. Do you know of another? Let us know. Some of the e-clubs are better than others (For instance, Home Town Buffet never sent anything for joining! Maybe they will in the future, but I’m only recommending proven money-saver, coupon-giving restaurants.)
San Diego on the Cheap is an affiliate partner to some sites listed here. They show gratitude for my referrals in the form a small fee. This allows San Diego on the Cheap to keep bringing you the deals!
