If you use liquid soap, you know how fast the stuff disappears! And it’s not exactly cheap. . . . A cheap tip or two helps.
First, it almost goes without saying to buy refill sizes and pour them into your smaller more decorative pump bottles. Some frugal people advocate adding water to the soap, but that doesn’t work too well for me. Runnier soap means more splashes out into the sink than on your hand – - plus it doesn’t suds up as well.
Here’s s a trick I discovered by accident when I purchased some discontinued foaming soap in small dispensers at a discount store. When the foam ran out, I refilled with regular liquid soap. Turns out the foaming dispensers have a different mechanism. Without getting all technical, it must add air as it dispenses. Use a foaming dispenser for regular soap, and less soap dispensed. VOILA! One small pump really IS enough. . . . Over time, you’ll save.
