Children’s Historic Street Fair: Fall Back. You and your children can check out what it might have been like to live back in another era, when ice cream socials and pie-eating contests were all the rage, and a blacksmith was an every day sight. The San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation hosts this fun free event. (You’ll pay a small fee to do some of the activities, but a lot of it is completely free.) Trade your old tools for somebody else’s at the “Old tool swap meet” 6 a.m. to noon at the Rockler Woodworking parking lot, 8199 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., Kearny Mesa.
