December Nights, Balboa Park. This is the 34th consecutive year of December Nights at Balboa Park. Free entry to many of the museums and venues, as well as holiday booths, and lots of lights and fun. 5 – 10pm. Check out December Nights at Balboa Park.
Coronado, Holiday Open House and Parade. What’s better than a parade? This Coronado free event, that’s what. Holiday tree lighting, a colorful parade, live music, a mountain of snow, and Santa. Find out more about Coronado’s Holiday Open House and Parade.

La Mesa. Christmas in the Village kicks off tonight. This two-night free holiday celebration is a gift of the La Mesa Village Merchants Association and offers a parade. Old Town State Historic Park. Holiday in the Park. See all of Old Town’s museums, stores and restaurants lit up in their holiday regalia. Specials and extra shopping hours help with holiday needs and combine with education when visitors learn about holiday celebrations of the 1800s.

Gaslamp Quarter. Costume pet parade. This sounds like fun for pet lovers. Whether you fill out the entry form and register to bring your pet in costume, or just watch from the sidelines, this is a free event for the holidays that’s gone to the dogs (groan). Parade of Lights on San Diego Bay. This is the second event (first one was December 11). More than 100 private boats alight with holiday cheer glide along San Diego Bay. What a festive event. 5:30 to 10pm.
