This Sunday, July 22, bring the whole family to Balboa Park’s organ pavilion. The San Diego Symphony is putting on a free concert, starting at 5:30 p.m. What a great summer evening this will be — free for the whole family.
Called “Olympics 2012: London Calling,” this special free San Diego Symphony concert will feature music associated with England to keep up with the theme.

San Diego International Children’s Film Festival
Saturday and Sunday (July 21 and July 22), have fun at this free event for families. The San Diego International Children’s Film Festival takes place at the Museum of Photographic Art. A free and fun San Diego children’s event, with films grouped for age groups (toddler to teen).
Now in it’s 9th season, the free San Diego International Children’s Film Festival will show more than 100 films from different places around the world. Give your kids a bit of international culture while having fun.

Did you know that you can save $9 off the regular price of the fair if you buy tickets ahead and visit on June 8 or June 12? Well, you can. That’s only $4. per person to get in. To be into the fair theme, that’s an “Out of this World” price!

All over the nation, steamers and more modern trains will be chugging into the station for celebration of National Train Day (May 12).
Here in San Diego, the S Gauge Model Railroad Club will host a free open house featuring its model train at Liberty Station. Bring the kids (or kids-at-heart) and let them have fun pushing buttons and learning about trains.

Daffodil Show March 24 and March 25
Who doesn’t adore the cute flowers that pop their heads up to brighten the hills — and our days? Drive up into the Julian area and you’ll see them in bunches along the roads. Wouldn’t it be nice to get up close, see what makes a winner, and truly enjoy these little beauties? This weekend in Julian, you’ll have your chance. Open to the public is the Julian Daffodil Show with exhibits in the town hall (2129 Main Steet) and at the Blue Heron Garden Shop (2116 Third Street). You can learn from expert enthusiasts about the daffodil, known as the flower of hope.
There are lots of other things going on in Julian on the weekends as well. Western street theatrics, homemade apple pie – - and this year, maybe even a little snow left from last weekend’s storm (?)!

At the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum, March 24 and 25, you can look at some of this Escondido-based club’s gems, minerals, fossils, and lots of sparkly items. The kids will have fun with special children’s activities. There’s even a raffle.

Escondido, Grape Day Park, 2pm to 4pm. The History Center is holding an open house. You can look through the museum, take in a few refreshments, and learn about how the city of Escondido has grown and changed during the last century.
