This was supposed to be a Valentine’s post . . . but isn’t every day a good day for a love story and true romance? Barbie may be a bit fickle . . . but she’s back with Ken at last. There was a special deal at Target but supplies are sold out. Even so, you can still get the cute reunion couple for a fair price.
If you buy from Amazon, you help keep San Diego on the Cheap up and running (we get a tiny portion of sales through our link).

For many years, I admired orchids from a distance, thinking they would be too difficult to grow. Every year, my mother-in-law would cut me bunches to take home and enjoy in vases. When she passed away, I hesitantly asked my father-in-law if he’d mind sharing a couple of her plants. Maybe, with effort, I could bring a little of her spirit into my own garden. . . . Those pictured here graced my garden earlier in the year.
As it turns out, I was wrong about the difficulty level in growing them! Here in San Diego County, orchids grow quite well.
Have you ever thought about growing orchids? Whether you want to grow them or simply stroll through many varieties for the sheer beauty of the experience, you can get 1/2 off tickets to the Orchid Fair that takes place in San Diego October 1 through 3. See coupon for details.

The Welk Theatre in Escondido is a fun, family atmosphere. With the resort setting and a colorful on-site museum that chronicles the life of Lawrence Welk and his long-running show, the theatre is a bit of a departure – - in a very good way — from some other live venues around our county.
Currently, you can get a three for two special on The Full Monty show (running September 9 thru October 17.
Call the box office at 888 802-SHOW and mention the “3 for 2 email” to receive the discount.
The restaurant has a wonderful buffet, so make this a special occasion. (Try the crab salad! — mmmm).

Just in time for Memorial weekend barbecues is a download of Martha Stewart Living Radio’s Free Grilling Book — full of terrific recipes for the grill. Here in San Diego County we can grill outdoors a good portion of the year. What fun to invite the expertise of Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, Adam Perry Lang, and other famous cooks of our time (they’re famous because they’re food tastes great!).
Grilling is not just burgers, and provides a healthy, delicious way to get your vegetables and fruits. Skewered pineapple and green peppers go well with chicken chunks, and grilled corn on the cob is a healthy classic. Mouth watering? Mine too!
The dowload is available from XM/Sirius Radio, which features Martha Stewart’s show. Choose to download Martha Stewart’ free grill book in full, or by chapter from the XM Radio site.
